History is never far away. Cambridge is home to one of the oldest universities in the world, with King’s College Chapel and the colleges along the Backs. Ely Cathedral, known as the Ship of the Fens, rises above the flat landscape for miles around, Peterborough Cathedral is one of the finest Norman buildings in the country, and Oliver Cromwell was born and schooled in Huntingdon.

There is plenty to get out and enjoy too, from punting on the Cam and walking the riverside paths of the Great Ouse to Wicken Fen, Wimpole Estate, Anglesey Abbey and the aircraft at IWM Duxford. Add Cambridge United and Peterborough United, a thriving local food and drink scene and a packed calendar of events, and there is always something going on.
